History and Success Chia Meng Group first came into existence in 1937 as a small rice mill in Bangsue, Bangkok, under the name Chia Meng Rice Mill Partnership, with a registered capital of Bht. 150, 000 and a modest produ ction capacity of 250 tons of paddy/month. Enjoying steady growth from the beginning, the company started, in 1955, to export Thai Jasmine rice under the names Golden Phoenix and Phoenix, or known in Chinese asand Hong Thong at home in Thailand. The trademark Hong Thong or Golden Phoenix, identified by the image of a phoenix depicted in tradition Thai style quickly gained acceptance from consumers both at home and abroad. Encouraged by this widespread popularity, the company, in 1968, became Bangsue Chia Meng Rice Mill, newly named to coincide with a growing and expanding company. Under the expansion scheme, four subsidiaries were established to expand production closer to our sources of vital raw materials. Today, the Chia Meng Group is engaged in all major stages of rice production, including the production of seeds, rice processing, quality improvement, packaging and distribution. The current combined production capacity of the four subsidiaries is over 25, 000 tons of paddy/month, enabling the company to meet demands in local and world markets.
