Mother Earth Products is owned by the Young and Evans families and is located in the green Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Dee Young, Mark Young, Lauren Young, and Courtney Evans have long been in business together, but in completely different areas of specialty. In 2013, the owners wanted to provide healthy food alternatives to snacking and long store emergency foods. After having had experiences with low quality freeze dried foods, the owners began their research for quality fruits, vegetables, and spices to develop their own line of healthy snacks, soups, and entrees that were not laden with salt and unhealthy preservatives. Lauren was tasked to research suppliers when she happened upon a small company in Iowa, that sold freeze dried and dehydrated foods, whose owner was liquidating and selling his small online business. Immediately, Dee, Lauren, and Mark went on a fact finding journey to Iowa to meet with the owner, to check out the quality of the food, and get a firsthand glimpse of how his business operated. During that trip, they purchased Mother Earth Products in its entirety, and their lives changed drastically.Mark and Lauren began the set up in Chesapeake, VA, and packed all the equipment, food, and training materials into a small office-warehouse combination in September, with the goal of going live in October. Within two months, they were running out of room, and began to search the Hampton Roads area for a large space with a commercial kitchen that they could grow into, stay in for a long period of time, and be easily accessible for the semi-truck delivery of pallets of food, which customers and vendors were enthusiastically enjoying. Over the 2013 Thanksgiving holiday, Mark and his wife, Megan, visited her family in Harrisonburg, VA. While they were in Harrisonburg, Mark began to search the area for office space that would suit their needs. The last place he looked at was a large office and warehouse space, along with an FDA approved kitchen and filling area (the space had previously been a food company). It was a perfect fit. In January 2014, Mark, Megan, and Lauren packed up the small business once again, moved it to Harrisonburg, and it's been in the Shenandoah Valley ever since. Since January 2015, Dee joined Mark and Lauren in Harrisonburg, while Courtney continued to remain in the Hampton Roads managing the technology and other business ventures they own.Since moving to Harrisonburg, the company has continued to grow. They have revamped their labels and website, and have also earned the designation of Virginia's Finest. Mother Earth Products has a growing online presence with Amazon, Walmart.com, Jet, E-bay, Mother Earth Products.com, as well as with various online affiliates. They are working with a food broker to introduce them to local and regional grocery stores. Mother Earth Products works with a chef who is formulating incredibly tasty recipes for their upcoming soup and entree lines. They have also implemented software from a leading media intelligence company to monitor and grow their brand across the news and information, social media, and Internet airwaves. Mother Earth Product's goal is to bring natural, good tasting, shelf stable foods and snacks to the consumer, giving healthy alternatives to busy time deprived people.
