Intercontinental Forest Products (IFP) imports lumber from the Nordic and Alpine regions of Europe into the U.S., and has been for 14 years. We are not an office wholesale operation. IFP operates differently from other import lumber suppliers in that we specialize in program oriented business and maintain an almost transparent existence between the mills in Europe and our clients. IFPs president and owner, though from the states, has lived in Sweden for over 15 years, giving us daily interaction with the mills in Europe.Our organization was built from the ground up with servicing home centers in mind, which is why our SPF is superior to that material from other suppliers. IFP has worked very hard to streamline the flow of quality lumber from the Nordic and Alpine producing regions of northern Europe into the US. We have a proven track record for fill rates and inventory control.All IFP product is #2 & better SPF from Sweden, Finland, Russia (via Latvia), and the Alpine regions of Switzerland and Austria. We represent a conglomerate group of over 35 planing facilities in these regions. This broad supply base provides IFP with a flexibility not found from suppliers with only one or two mills. Operations such as these run into supply problems when raw material or mechanical problems shut one or more of their facilities down temporarily. IFP has the ability to simply shift those volumes to our other mill partners until the issue has been rectified, giving our clients the peace of mind that their lumber will be here when they need it. All IFP stock is pre-inspected by IFP staff at the port in Uddevalla, Sweden and Brake, Germany prior to shipment to the U.S. and we oversee the discharge of each vessel in New London, CT or Savannah, GA. IFP also provides under roof storage of all product. We deliver fresh, clean stock to each of our clients on every order.IFPs success thus far is largely due to the strength of the partnerships between the mills, the ocean carriers, the ports, our customers, and ourselves.
