Kaner plants, commonly known as oleanders, are popular fancy and attractive shrubs that produce beautiful aromatic flowers in white, pink, and red colours. Locally found in the Mediterranean region, they are famous for their toughness and resilient nature and they are a good choice for dry landscapes and warm climate regions. These plants can usually grow up to 20 feet tall and 10 feet wide, so they are used as hedges or specimen plants in gardens and landscapes.
Kaner plants favour full sunlight and humus-rich soil. They are tolerant and forbearing of salt spray and can resist temperatures as low as 20°F (-6°C). Nonetheless, it is crucial to note that all parts of the plant contain a toxic and harmful substance which is called Oleandrin, which can cause serious poisoning if consumed. While handling the plant, preventive measures should be taken and it must be kept out of reach of children and pets.

Kaner plants are tough and resilient. They require less water and are drought-tolerant. Nonetheless, they should be watered sufficiently but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings.
Kaner plants are more prone to attack by pests such as scale insects and diseases such as leaf spots. Insecticidal soap or horticultural oil can be used to control pests. To prevent diseases, avoid excessive watering and ensure sufficient ventilation for the plant.
