Avocados are green- or brown-skinned and pear-shaped, egg-shaped or spherical. The fruits ripen after harvesting. Various different cultivars or varieties are available of the fruit. The Hass avocado is a cultivar of avocado with dark greencolored, bumpy skin.  There is an increasing popularity of Hass, globally it's the most common variety.The Hass avocado is a large-sized fruit weighing 200 to 300 grams. When ripe, the skin becomes a dark purplish-black and yields to gentle pressure. Avocados are best known as the basic ingredient for guacamole, an avocado-based sauce which originated from Mexico and is used as a dip or condiment. Additionally, they are used in salads, on sandwiches and spreads. The Fuerte avocado is often recognized as the archetypal avocado, green in color, pear-like in shape, and ranging from 6 to 12 ounces in size. It has smooth, medium-thin skin that peels easily, with dense, pale green flesh. It is marginally oily with a rich, creamy flavor and notes of hazelnut, and it is still considered by many to be the best tasting avocado. Their skin remains green, and the fruit will yield to gentle pressure when ripe.
