My name is Isaac Gil and I work in EMS Training Spain S.L. as engineer and the Head of Electronic Design and Development Area. Our company commercializes electro muscle stimulation devices, in Spain as well as worldwide. Now we are developing our own electro muscle stimulation device and we need a specific pulse transformer for it. The transformer should have two low voltage primary windings which are excited with pulsed squared DC voltage though power mosfet transistors as the figure shows. This DC voltage must change from 0V to 4V in order to control the power of the EMS training. The width of the squared pulses can be from 60us to 500us and the frequency from 5Hz to 250Hz. The secondary winding is in charge of elevate the output voltage up to 60-80V. There are two primary windings to achieve negative pulses on the output with a single primary power supply. The load is composed by a 250 ohms resistance in parallel with a 200nF capacitance. In order to get a well behavior of the transformer and good electrical waveforms, the transformer shall fulfill some requirements: Transformation ratio (#1A:#2 and #1B:#2): between 1:15 and 1:20 Primary windings dc resistance: between 0.25 and 1 ohm each one Primary windings inductance: between 1.5 and 2.5 mH each one Secondary winding dc resistance: between 50 and 100 ohms Secondary winding inductance: between 200 and 300 mH Frequency response: from 200 to 20,000 Hz, preferably from 200 to 200,000 Hz Recommended core: RM14 or similar Electrical terminals: Total of 6 terminals, 2 independent terminals for each winding Dimensions (WxLxH): 20x20x30 mm maximum As additional information, this kind of transformer or similar is usually used as audio transformer for impedance adapting. Standard low frequency transformers and SMPS high frequency ones do not work well in this application. We have tested several of them. Is your company able to build transformers for our application? We would like to buy many of them, around 1,000 to 3,000 units per year if they work as I showed. But firstly we would need to test some samples to check the transformer correct behavior.
