I run a business focused primarily on providing household goods to remote Northern Canadian communities. Because of their location many of these communities do not have access to roads, and shipping is, as a result, quite expensive. Typical coil spring mattresses have an inherent disadvantage vis a vis memory foam as they are large, bulky and expensive to ship. The characteristics that make a good product to sell into remote communities generally make a good product to send through the mail as well. If the price is competitive, I believe that a market exists to sell memory foam mattresses to residents of Canada through e-bay, next tag and similar internet shopping portals as well as traditional classified ads run in local newspapers. While these types of products sold through the aforementioned sales channels are a burgeoning business in the United States, Canada does not have adequate sales representation and a value disparity exists. I would like to stress that my marketing will target ONLY customers in Canada; while I am set up in import products, I am not set up to export and have no desire to do so.
