Dear Customer Representative,We represent the largest importer of Tuna into the United States, who were looking for fresh chill Tuna that may be transported in a controlled environment from areas where we dont currently import from. South Africa was one of the countries identified.We are looking at importing initially ten to twelve tons of fresh chill tuna on a weekly basis.The following requirements has been requested: Tuna can come from both Day Boat or Trip, using long lines. Which ever has highest fat size and quality. Blue fin may be 50 Kgs or larger -fully dressed (head and guts removed) Big eye and Yellow fin may be 36 Kgs or larger, after being fully dressed Tank on board- brining the fish in tanks prior to icing for storage in the hole is preferred Once dressed on board, fish belly¬â„¢s may be packed with ice immediately to protect the meat in a manner not to cause freezer burn. Once on shore, ice in the fish may be removed, replaced with frozen gel packs and vacuumed sealed then packed in Styrofoam coffins, surrounded all around with as many gel ice packs as possible to keep the fish cold and to ensure a temperature of 1 to 2 degree centigrade. A plastic bag around coffin may be placed and then the coffin in a cardboard box. Boxes may be fill up in a container and delivered to the airline sealed and locked. Could shipments be so structured so as to ensure that deliveries are made only on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday? This would assist, as personnel are in JFK clearing other consignments during those days. Shipment in LD2 or LD3 containers are preferred. Fish to be tagged with weight, prior to dispatch.Please let me know your interest to pursue this opportunity.
