The uNetEthernet module is an inexpensive, updateable TCP/IP coprocessor that connects between a hostprocessor or microcontroller and the Internet. In later code releases the uNetEthernet module will have toability to operate without a microcontroller allowing user programmability. The uNetEthernet module canconnects to a network or the Internet via an Ethernet connection. The uNetEthernet module has been testedwith many brands of Ethernet switches and hubs for reliable and compatible connectivity. TheuNetEthernet module supports DHCP or static configuration with full name resolution support. Its fullyconfigurable TCP/IP stack and other configuration parameters are stored in the uNetEthernet’s FLASH andEEPROM memory and all parameters and code are upgradeable.The first firmware release for the uNetEthernet module is based on nChip’s IR command processor. The IR command Interface is flexible and efficient, doesnot limit usage, almost any Internet protocol can be implemented. It is as simple as writing a few simplecommands and letting uNetEthernet and its IR command processor take care of all the complex Internetprotocols.
