Dear Ecographic Asia,We areproducing a series of very large photographic books and would like to have aspecial ink formula. The books will beprinted on an 8 color Heidelberg offset printing press. This is what we are looking for: 1) Anink that dries harder than normal. Toyomake a ¬a“scuff tough¬Â formula. These bookshave to be mostly bound by hand, and we want to avoid scuffing without using avarnish. http://www.toyoink.com/products/ScuffTuff.pdf2) Highgloss without yellowing effect 3) Someadditional longevity. We are willing topay more to have inks that last longer but not and ink that is so archivalthat it develops press problems. I knowyou don¬â„¢t use a Blue Wool scale in China, but an 8 is maximum longevity and a 1is very poor (fade really quickly) we would like to have about a 6.5 on thatscale. Hope that helps.4) We want to formulate a Red, Green, and Blue process ink (not opaque-buttransparent like the CMYK). This jobseven color process, not four. We can supply you with ink pulls of exact shade and density required. They were made by Sun Chemicals in the USA. Sun Chemicals are the largest ink manufacturer in the world, but they dont trade in Asia. So this is why we need to find a new ink company.5) Qualitypigments. Pigments are not just aboutcolor, but tonal ranges, and richness in quality. We want a premium ink, not the cheapest youcan make like printers too often are asking for. 6) Anink that will run so smoothly on press that the press-workers will wish theyused only this ink! We willbe running the first job just after the Chinese New Year. However, we want to enter a contract with theprinter as soon as possible and they are also looking to discover an inkcompany that can produce the ¬a“scuff tough¬Â aspect. So I would appreciate your reply at yourearliest convenience. Unfortunately, our first print run only requires about 700 kilos of ink (total order). However, we will use the same formula for future runs of much larger volumes. Best regards,RichardKrauswww.pplandscape.org
