We seek insulation for an internally cooled cylindrical component of a gaseous reactor. The end of the cooled cylinder inside the reactor is exposed to high heatfluxes of 1-3 MW/sq meterand anatmosphere consisting primarily of carbon monoxideand hydrogen. The chamber gases reach 1500C, and the exposed face of the component reaches 700-800C. We need a material or approach to lower the temperature of the exposed end of the cylinder by 100-200C.The insulation should be durable, not fragile in handling, last at least one year and stick to a smooth metal surface.
