My name is Sandy Wallis, and I am currently in the process of setting up a retail business here in the UK selling womens safety wear and shoes. As a practicing Public Health Inspector in the Southern part of England, I have realised that there is very limited choice for women in safety shoes. The bulk of the production of personal protective equipment in the UK is geared mainly to the male market. This is something I have discovered as a practicing health, safety and food specialist. I believe we have a huge potential market for high quality, stylish womens safety shoes with a low heel, which is something that is unavailable in the UK. As our market here is geared mainly to male requirements, most of the shoe types available are limited to the trainer type. I am currently trying to get a very skilled and competent manufacturer on board with my idea, who is looking for an opportunity to produce something that is different to their competitors. I would really like the opportunity of working with you to produce 2 prototypes of a shoe that I know will sell easily here in the UK.I can see that you are able to produce the Goodyear welted construction in your shoes and boots, which to me means that your products are of a very high quality. This is why I have made contact with your company to produce my shoes. I wonder if you would be interested in providing a price for me for my 2 prototypes. I will also pay for the EU testing of my products and therefore there is little or no risk to your company in my proposal. It could easily mean that we steal the ladies market with my products, as I have experience and knowledge in my field and know what the difficulties are in trying to obtain a stylish, low heeled shoe which complies with the SRC standard which is certainly achievable but is not being done at the moment. I have consulted with two EU testing labs here in the UK and both labs are unable to see why it cannot be done.This project is my own and has nothing to do with the UK government.
