My name is Cristina Parks and I am a 3rd grade teacher at Kyrene de las Lomas Elementary School. I am writing this letter on behalf of my third grade students who are a part of the growing number of children in need of increased movement in the classroom to fortify their ability to attain success. Based on both academic study and my personal experience as an educator, I believe it is vital to ensure that movement and a greater understanding of health and fitness are priorities in my classroom. In the elementary school setting, use of the exercise ball enhances attention and concentration, improves learning through movement, and advances blood flow to all parts of the body, especially the brain. This past year, I began to employ exercise balls as an alternative to chairs for some of my most high-energy students, and the results were profound. I have researched and witnessed the powerful impact the exercise ball has on student behavior and learning, and I feel that all students will benefit from their use greatly. As you may know, state funding for education on all levels is at an all time low but the need for children to live happy, healthy lives is still a necessity. I present this letter to you as a humble request to aide in the use of exercise balls in our 3rd grade classroom. Every 65 cm exercise ball that is donated will bring us closer to our goal of 30 to create a class set. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Cristina Parks 11820 S Warner-Elliot Loop Phoenix, AZ 85044(480) *******@*****.com
