Some general information about Together We Cope Our clients are individuals and families experiencing a temporary crisis. An unexpected illness or accident, a layoff due to economic circumstances, or a cut in hours worked can all drastically impact a familys ability to support itself. Together We Cope is able to provide financial and/or material assistance to bridge the gap. This is accomplished by practical solutions such as providing groceries to offset expense, a rent or mortgage subsidy, utility assistance, medication, clothing, or household items. Each situation is assessed individually and any payment is made directly to the service provider, such as; a landlord, pharmacy, or utility. Clients are never in direct receipt of funds. We also strive to provide resources to empower our clients; employment referrals, life skills, parenting, and financial literacy classes. (Sponsored by Harris Bank) Each year Together We Cope gathers eligibility data to access the need for school supplies. This annual expense can be burdensome to a struggling family. Each year this program continues to grow in participation and 2009 is the largest projected response. Each eligible school aged child receives a backpack filled with grade-appropriate supplies. This can be accomplished for as little as Ask Buyer per child. In 2008, 996 children participated in TWCs Back to School program. We anticipate increasing by 50% this year.
