June 23, 2012Greetings: The Top of Illinois Veterans Stand Down is a one-day yearly event in aid of Veterans in need, specifically targeted to Homeless Veterans. This year the event will take place on Wednesday October 24, 2012, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at Verdi Hall Club in Rockford, IL. Our goal is to assist homeless, unemployed and under-employed Veterans in obtaining meaningful employment, through the provision of clean clothing, haircuts, and various other services which will assist them in accessing VA and other community based services. We strive to provide our Veterans hope, help and dignity, to assist our Veterans in finding success and stability within the community. Two meals will be provided to our Veterans during the day, and they will each have an opportunity to receive medical treatment, employment consultation, Vet Center/Veterans Administration help, Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs assistance, clothing distribution, haircuts, and much more. We are in need of donations of men„s and women„s hygiene products which will be provided to each attendee in the form of comfort care kits. This is a once yearly opportunity for our Veterans to receive this assistance. Many of the Veterans who partake of this service are living on the streets or occasionally in Shelters. This is one way to provide dignity for the Veterans who proudly served our Country. We would be happy to pick up any donations from a distribution center located in the Illinois/Wisconsin area, and all donations are tax deductible. Thank you in advance for your consideration of our request.
