Ant sugar is a natural sweetener made from liquid extracts of coconut tree sap (Cocos Nucifera), palm trees (Arenga Pinata), and siwalan trees (Borarus Falbellifer). Because this sugar is produced from the sap of the palmae family tree, in English it is better known as palm sugar. In Indonesia it is known as palm ant sugar. Because of its brown physical characteristics, many people often mistake and equate it with brown sugar. Even though the two are really very different. The shape of the brown sugar is more lumpy and molded according to the desired shape. Meanwhile, for ant sugar, the shape is more like powder or flour, but a little more concentrated. Apart from that, its name also has a special reason because its shape and texture are very similar to ant houses on the ground.
