My jaw was injured in a fall in 2003 and I was misdiagnosed in the emergency room. In 2006 it was discovered that I had exploded the discs located in the temporomandibular joint at the time of impact. In the three years that had elapsed since my injury, there had been quite a bit of erosion in the TMJ area. This caused my jaw to seize up and the subsequent result was surgery in both of my TMJs. The remnants of my discs were totally removed and the condyle and fossa were remodeled to accommodate movement again.
