VirtuOx, Inc. assists physicians and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) companies diagnose respiratory diseases and qualify patients for home respiratory equipment under the guidelines of CMS and other insurances. Virtuox offers both laboratory services and diagnostic hardware to assist with this process. Laboratory services VirtuOx, Inc. is a Medicare approved Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) that conducts Overnight Oximetry tests for the purposes of home oxygen qualification and Home Sleep Testing (HST) for the diagnosis and treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Overnight Oximetry Testing - CMS requires all claims for home oxygen therapy to be supported by valid qualifying test results performed by a qualified provider or supplier of laboratory services, such as VirtuOx. In 2005, CMS released new policy related to Patient Self Administered Overnight Oximetry Testing. Based on these new guidelines, VirtuOx developed proprietary, web based communication software that allows DME providers to be the courier of the oximetry testing devices (oximeters) to and from the patients home. The DME provider then connects the oximeter to their PC and uploads the test data to VirtuOx HIPPA compliant servers. Our proprietary software application creates a detailed report that is faxed to the patients treating physician, who may then order home oxygen. Oximetry tests may only be performed after a written physicians order has been received by VirtuOx. The DME receives a copy of the report once VirtuOx confirms receipt of the patient signed Assignment of Benefits form. Home Sleep Testing - In 2008, CMS approved Home Sleep Testing (HST) as an alternative to facility based Polysomnography for the diagnosis of OSA and qualification for Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy devices. Since Medicare does not allow a DME to courier the testing device, VirtuOx mails these devices to and from the patients home. We provide detailed teaching instructions and 24-hour telephone support for patients before, during, and after their self-administered test. Once we receive the device back from the patient, our Respiratory Therapist scores the study and our Board Certified Sleep Physician Interprets the test. The finished Interpretation is sent to the DME and to the treating physician, who may order a CPAP or BiPAP. Diagnostic Hardware The VirtuOx Total Solution was created to help DME providers reduce their costs for qualifying oxygen patients in the home. The Total Solution consists of our flagship Overnight Oximetry Testing platform VirtuOx, now at NO CHARGE, combined with our new, FDA approved VirtuOx compatible Pulse Oximeter Devices called VirtuOx VPODs.
