Moved by the poignant love story between Phyllis and Acamas, the Greek goddess Athena turned Phyllis into a wonderful almond tree. Caressed by Acamas, the tree burst into white blossoms to return his eternal love. Brought to Sicily by the Phoenicians, the almond tree is still the basis for the preparation of traditional sweets which SweetJewels continues to produce with the same old methods.
