The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) that was adopted by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in 2008 has introduced many significant regulatory responsibilities for manufacturers, distributors, retailers and importers of consumer goods, particularly for toys and children’s products. Toys and children’s products entering the U.S. must comply with CPSIA product safety requirements, be tested by a CPSC approved testing laboratory and produce either a Children Product Certificate (CPC) or General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) as demonstration for compliance to relevant federal regulations and mandatory safety standards, and have permanent tracking information affixed to the product and its packaging where practicable.
STC is an independent third-party testing and certification laboratory that has received recognition and accreditation from CPSC.
